Sigmas Contemporary 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN is a small and lightweight standard zoom crop-sensor lens for mirrorless cameras. The standard zoom lens is designed for Sony E-mount APS-C format cameras and offers a focal length range equivalent to 27-75mm and a wide f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range.8 aperture throughout the zoom range, making it suitable for working in low-light conditions and offering greater control over focus position when using shallow depth-of-field techniques.

The design of this lens includes three high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements, together with a special low-dispersion element. Together, they minimize the total number of elements for excellent optical quality without excessive weight. Autofocus is exceptionally fast and quiet thanks to the lens stepping motor, which can be particularly useful when recording fast-moving figures or objects such as children and animals. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 4.8, allowing it to be used for macro-style close-up photography, and is also equipped with a rounded seven-lens diaphragm for a pleasing bokeh quality.
