Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 (A) DC X- mount
Sigma OBJECTIVE 17-40mm F1.8 (A) DC X- mount
Exclusive for mirrorless cameras
Compatible with APS-C sensor cameras
The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art is a zoom lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras that pushes the boundaries of photographic and video expression. Based on the innovative Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art, this new generation offers superior optical performance, a wider focal range (17-40mm) and is over 30% lighter.
main features :
Constant F1.8 aperture throughout the zoom range
The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC | Art offers the convenience of a zoom lens with a constant aperture of F1.8 throughout the zoom range. Taking advantage of a large aperture comparable to that of a prime lens, this lens is suitable for low-light environments such as indoor and night scenes, as well as enabling creative expressions with great bokeh.
Excellent optical performance with axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma correction
The optical design, developed with the latest design and manufacturing technologies, including the use of high-precision aspherical lenses, provides exceptional optical performance.
By prioritizing the correction of axial chromatic aberration and sagittal coma flare, the lens achieves high resolution even at the maximum aperture of F1.8, reproducing delicate textures and fine details with impressive sharpness.
Flexible zoom range (equivalent to 25.5-60mm in 35mm format; 27.2-64mm in the Canon RF version)
The zoom range of the Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC | Art has been extended from its predecessor, the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art, to cover the equivalent of 25.5-60mm in 35mm format¹. From wide-angle shots of objects on the table to portraits that take full advantage of the angle of view at the telephoto end, users can fully exploit the expressive power of the large F1.8 aperture, freely framing their shots without the need to change lenses.
Designed to minimize flare and ghosting
Using advanced simulation technology and Sigmas Super Multi-Layer coating, flare and ghosting have been largely eliminated, ensuring that the lens produces rich, high-contrast results in all conditions.
Highly portable and versatile for any situation
Practical and stable internal zoom
With an internal zoom mechanism, the overall length of the lens remains constant even when the focal length or focusing distance is changed. This makes the lens easy to use and highly stable when shooting handheld, with a tripod or gimbal, as well as offering greater resistance to dust and moisture ingress.
Improved mobility with a compact and lightweight design
The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC | Art is more than 30% lighter and has a filter diameter of 67 mm, one size smaller than its predecessor, the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art. Despite being a zoom lens with a large aperture, it is surprisingly portable. The expressive power of the F1.8 aperture can be harnessed with a compact APS-C system, making it ideal for travel and everyday photography, as well as video production, where mobility is essential.
Dust and splash resistant body / Water and oil repellent coating
In addition to a dust- and splash-resistant body, the front surface of the lens has a water- and oil-repellent coating, allowing it to be used safely even in demanding outdoor environments.
¹ This product is designed to be dust- and splash-resistant, but it is not waterproof. When using the lens near water, etc., take care to avoid large amounts of water coming into contact with it. If water gets inside the lens, it could cause a serious malfunction and render it irreparable.
Equipped with two AFL buttons
Equipped with two AFL buttons¹ ² to which any function can be assigned via the camera menu. As they are positioned on the side and top of the lens, users can easily operate them in both horizontal and vertical orientation.
¹ Functions can only be assigned to compatible cameras. The functions available may vary depending on the model of camera used.
² The version with FUJIFILM X mount has an AF function button that allows you to select AF lock or AF operation via the switch on the lens.
Functions that support video production
High-speed AF with HLA motor
Focus breathing is suppressed, minimizing changes in the angle of view caused by focus shift and allowing smooth, natural-looking focus transitions during video recording.
¹ The Canon RF mount version has a control ring instead of an aperture ring. It does not include the click switch or the aperture ring lock switch.
² If the switch is activated in position A, the aperture ring will be locked in that position. If it is activated in another position, the ring will be locked between the maximum and minimum aperture and it will not be possible to return to position A.
