The box can be used on small boats, surfing, swimming, snorkeling or diving. It is easy to operate the camera as its various components and buttons can be operated through PVC.
With this box, a whole new world of applications opens up for your digital still camera: inside the box, you can now safely take the camera for canoeing, snorkeling or even diving, to a depth of 30 m / 100 ft.
Experienced photographers have confirmed that the autofocus and flash continue to work perfectly. As you descend, air is pressed into the chamber. Because of this, the pressure inside the box will remain the same as the pressure of the surrounding water (this is why ewa-marine boxes are so safe to use: implosions are impossible). Therefore, we must start the dive with an adequate amount of air inside the box. The foam pads supplied with the housing are part of this "reservoir" of air and additional air must also be blown into the housing, through the valve on the back, to ensure that the maximum potential volume is being utilized.
The D-AX housing is made of double laminated PVC and has an integrated optically neutral flat glass door. The external flash commonly used on SLR cameras fits into the specially designed section at the top of the housing.
It features a pair of non-corrosive, seawater resistant DIN rails that snap together for a perfect seal. They tighten by means of three screw buttons.
It comes in a practical yellow carrying bag with a waterproof interior and a zippered side pocket.
